The speech
At the UN, Trump proposed calling AI “super intelligence” because he disliked the word “artificial.”

An important update for the BC + AI community.
Following President Trump’s announcement, we’ve reluctantly adopted the term Super Intelligence. The new name takes effect immediately. We appreciate your patience while we update the website.

Your membership carries over automatically. You don’t need to reapply, and there’s no additional fee for being Super. We’re still meeting across British Columbia.
Existing memberships remain valid under the new name.
An update from the association

BC + SI presents · Flagship festival
The future is now approved.
Futureproof becomes Futureapproved. We’ve updated the programme to reflect the new terminology. Speakers who prepared slides in advance have our sympathies.

Introducing BC + SI
Once we added the eagle, there was no going back. The maple leaf is still in there, doing its best.
See how Super we can get
The upgrade, demonstrated
We found the dial. Turn it up and see how much smarter the computer gets.
Same computer. President says it’s better.
The models have changed. The intelligence hasn’t.
BC + SI / The Swimsuit Edition / Issue 01
Less coverage. Same hallucinations.
Super selected. Intelligence gained: 0.
People doing the work
They’re making films, teaching, and figuring out what this technology means for BC. The president changed a word.
Now teaching Super Intelligence
We changed the posters. You’ll still have to learn the stuff. Sorry.
Gather
BC meetups before the adjective changed. We had a pretty good time being Artificial.
News
The news sounds better already.
Watch
The covers say SI now. The speakers still speak for themselves.
Facts
Interactive proposal
We tried calling them Super Salmon. They kept swimming.
Our Wild Salmon proposal is about bringing talent back to BC. That takes more than a new name. The fish seem to understand this better than the president.

We wrote SUPER on the servers. The electricity bill didn’t budge.
BC needs compute people can actually use. Calling it Super doesn’t buy a GPU or get a student access to one. But it does fit nicely on a podium.

The real Public Compute Project is still about access and who gets to decide. We’ll keep working on that once we’ve finished changing the font.

It says AI absolutely everywhere.
Years of meetups, photographs, and people saying “artificial intelligence” on camera. We could go back and change every caption. Or we could leave a record of what people actually said.
We’re keeping the archive. If that makes us THE ENEMY, at least we’ve got good photographs.

Multi-modal.Multi-cultural.Radically local.Super, apparently.
Still BC + AI. Still in Canada.
This is satire. We haven’t changed the association’s name. Trump really did rename AI, then call people who use the old name “THE ENEMY.” We thought that deserved a whole fucking website. His order doesn’t apply to us. Apparently neither does a sense of proportion.
No name change. Considerable eye-rolling.The people pictured didn’t sign up for Trump or this rebrand. The altered graphics and the ridiculous claims are ours.

Fair questions
No. We’re still the BC + AI Ecosystem Association. We bought a domain and took the piss. That’s the whole name change.
No. This one directs the terminology used by the U.S. executive branch. Our very expensive-looking panic is entirely voluntary.
We spent several hours making this website. Draw your own conclusions about our intelligence.
No endorsement is implied. These are people from the BC + AI community. We changed seven promotional graphics to say SI for the joke. The gallery photographs and the talks are untouched. “Restore sanity” brings the original artwork back.
Nothing here. We’ll probably say it back. The president’s post is linked below if you’d like to see what all the fuss is about.
“Restore sanity” brings back the original wording and artwork where we’ve changed them, along with the BC + AI colours. For the current website, head to bc-ai.ca.

Watch the remarks ↗Executive Order 14434 directs terminology changes in executive-branch documents and websites. It keeps the existing statutory definition for now, while directing a proposed new definition within 60 days.
Read the Federal Register PDF ↗Trump then described people using “Artificial Intelligence” instead of “Super Intelligence” as “THE ENEMY.” The post is the immediate inspiration for this entirely unnecessary Canadian rebrand.

Technical context: artificial superintelligence conventionally refers to a hypothetical system that exceeds human intelligence across domains. Renaming existing AI does not establish that capability. AWS explanation ↗
